Potta, a tiny village on the West coast of
India, in the southern most State of Kerala, has
been attracting increasing attention of Christians,
especially Catholics all over the world. A spiritual
awakening - a renewal, a revival- is touching and
changing the lives of millions --- Christians, Catholics,
Protestants and even Hindus and Muslims for the
better, in the State of Kerala.
The mighty hands of God are at work in miraculous
ways. This all started in 1978 through the intense
prayers and devotion of a Vincentian priest, Fr.
Mathew Naikomparambil. He had started a prayer group
with 14 people who had assembled once a week, on
a Saturday, in a church at Potta.
They were praising and thanking God for their weaknesses,
failures, infirmities, humiliations, rejections,
ailments and their aches and pains, rather than
complaining, cursing and grumbling.
"You are a chosen race, holy nation, royal priest
hood, a personal possession to sing praises to a
God who brought us out of darkness into a wonderful
light". (1Peter 2:9)
They trusted in Jesus and His promises. "Come to
me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will
give you rest." (Matthew 11:28)
Miracles and healings began to happen during their
prayers. The first healing was that of a man who
was suffering from Asthma for many years, which
was followed by many others of the mind, body and
soul. Healings-physical and spiritual- of the blind
and deaf and of the addicts and others, abounded.
Word had spread around and the group of 14 had swelled
up to one of 40,000, coming together for prayer,
listening to the word of God and receiving blessings
from him, once a week.
In response to a divine revelation and urging from
God, on October 1983, Fr. Mathew started a live-in
Retreat Center for 400 people in a vacant building,
which was built for a hospital, in the near by town
of Muringoor.
Thousands started swarming into the center for prayers,
listening to the word of God and to receive His
blessings and the healing of the sick. It has become
the biggest Retreat Center in the world housing
up to 15,000 people living at one place for one
week at a time around the year. His spiritual conventions
in India are attended by 200,000 to 300,000 with
many reported healings.
Reputation had spread around the world and Fr. Mathew
had started a world evangelization project, prompted
by the divine revelations. He has been conducting
retreats, conventions and healing services in various
countries of Asia, Europe, Africa and the Americas.
He has been visiting USA every year since 1992,
and many healings have been reported during his
services.
Guided by the Holy Spirit and Divine Providence
he has started a center in New Jersey, "The Divine
Mercy Healing Center, Potta" located at 426 Route
57 West, Washington, New Jersey.
He had appeared on the Catholic television program
EWTN. Now he is making his services available through
the medium of the Internet.
We invite prayer requests for any of your needs
--- physical, emotional, spiritual or even material-
and blessings from God.
